Labour Activists Demand Immediate Arrest of Mastermind Behind Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus
The TNI’s Central Inspectorate has revealed that four soldiers from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) are suspects in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The Indonesian Trade Union Alliance Congress (KASBI) has demanded the immediate arrest of the mastermind behind the acid attack.
“We condemn and urge the authorities to immediately arrest and identify the intellectual actors as the masterminds who have caused Andrie to be bedridden in hospital today,” said Nining Elitos, Coordinator of the KASBI National Labour Council, in a YLBHI YouTube broadcast uploaded on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
Nining assessed that the evidence already available should facilitate the uncovering of the acid attack case against Andrie. She regretted that critics striving for the nation’s progress have become victims of terror.
“But why must the voices of the people criticising those in power—whether on TNI Law regulations or others—suffer in hospital? This is a form of cowardice. If we are wrong in our criticism, then sit down with us,” she said.
“Don’t just call it terror, but how many days have passed since the incident until today, and we still don’t know who has been arrested, the suspects, or the intellectual masterminds,” Nining added.
Nining also prayed for Andrie’s quick recovery. She reiterated the demand for the immediate arrest of the acid attack mastermind.
“We once again pray that our comrade Andrie recovers soon and continues to fight among the people, while we must collectively keep the flame of resistance alive. We must build ongoing solidarity through activities in cities and regions, demanding that those in power immediately arrest and try not only the perpetrators but also the intellectual masterminds who ordered the attack that made Andrie a victim,” she said.
The TNI revealed that the suspected perpetrators are Bais TNI members with initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES. TNI Chief of Information Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah stated that the investigation into the case is still ongoing.
“I need to convey that the investigation process against the four personnel suspected of assaulting Mr AY is still underway,” said Major General Aulia on Monday (23/3).
