La Ode Safiul Akbar Ready to Lead Kosgoro 1957, Championing Regeneration and Organisational Revival
Candidate for General Chairperson of Kosgoro 1957, La Ode Safiul Akbar, has declared his readiness to run for the position at the organisation’s Fifth General Assembly (Mubes). He stressed that the Mubes should mark the beginning of the organisation’s revival to address contemporary challenges and strengthen Kosgoro’s contribution to society and the nation.
“We must not merely dwell on Kosgoro’s historical glory. Our current challenge is to harness this legacy as fuel to build a more modern, robust, and relevant organisation for future generations,” La Ode stated on Monday, 1 June 2026.
He noted that Kosgoro 1957 possesses significant historical, network, and cadres’ resources. However, these potentials must be optimised through organisational transformation focused on cadre development, people’s economic empowerment, and strengthening youth roles.
“Kosgoro must once again become a crucible for national cadres. We need an organisation that not only produces politicians, but also community leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, academics, and change-makers who deliver tangible benefits to Indonesia,” he said.
La Ode views leadership regeneration as an urgent organisational necessity. He believes Kosgoro requires fresh energy while respecting the traditions and struggle values of its founders.
“Regeneration does not mean abandoning seniors. Rather, it is how we ensure the founders’ ideals remain alive and adaptable to changing times. We aim to build a bridge between senior experience and youth creativity,” he added.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening Kosgoro’s role in supporting national development agendas through people’s economic empowerment and regional development.
“I believe Indonesia’s future is not solely determined from Jakarta. Therefore, Kosgoro must be present at the regional level, supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), strengthening cooperatives, and creating spaces for youth to thrive,” La Ode said.
He stressed that the Mubes contest should be seen as a healthy democratic space to strengthen the organisation, not a platform for division.
“The Mubes is not about who wins or loses. What matters far more is how, post-Mubes, Kosgoro becomes more united, larger, and more influential in contributing to the nation and country,” he added.
La Ode hopes the Fifth Mubes will set a new direction for the organisation capable of addressing national and global challenges while reinforcing Kosgoro’s role as a key pillar in Indonesia’s development.
“I am running out of a spirit of service, not mere ambition. If entrusted with the mandate, I aim to make Kosgoro a progressive, inclusive organisation and a home for all cadres striving for the people, nation, and country,” he said.
