La Ode Announces Candidacy for Kosgoro 1957 Chairmanship
Jakarta, VIVA – La Ode Safiul Akbar has declared his candidacy for the position of General Chairman of Kosgoro 1957. He is determined to restore Kosgoro 1957 as a ‘Works Organisation’ in line with its historical purpose and values, which aim to contribute to the nation’s independence.
He stated that independence should not only be won but actively filled with tangible efforts to empower national welfare, driven by dedication, people-centric values, and solidarity.
“Because these roots provide strength and nourish the organisation’s tree, yielding benefits for its members and the wider ecosystem,” he said in a statement on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
He identified global competition, technological disruption, economic inequality, a cadres crisis, and rapid social change as challenges in managing both human and natural resources.
He considers this highly relevant for Kosgoro 1957, whose core mission is to manage the newly independent nation and address republican challenges.
“Amid economic uncertainty, empower the organisation to generate solutions. And amid increasingly complex national challenges, cultivate versatile, adaptable, integrity-driven, and competent cadres,” he said.
He advocates for a vision that avoids empty promises and re-anchors Kosgoro 1957’s struggle values as a driving force for people’s economic empowerment and a locomotive for national progress within Golkar.
“First, bring the past to the present as a foundation. Kosgoro 1957 must return to being a character school to revive its founding philosophy, ensuring its values are not merely commemorated in ceremonies but embedded in organisational culture, discipline, national loyalty, innovative courage, and commitment to the people,” he said.
“Second, manage the present with concrete solutions. Kosgoro 1957 must be present in national issues, driving people’s economy through empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs), strengthening modern cooperatives, digital economic literacy, and creating business ecosystems that support the poor,” he added.
He stressed that Kosgoro 1957 must not exist only in meeting rooms but in people’s markets, business hubs, productive villages, and Indonesia’s youth innovation spaces.
“Third, prepare the future through elite cadre development. Today’s leadership must not be preoccupied solely with managing today but must produce tomorrow’s leaders. We must cultivate Kosgoro 1957 cadres with three key qualities: intellectual capacity, moral integrity, and professional competence,” he said.
