The Kyrgyz government has officially launched the Tamchy Special Financial Investment Territory (SFIT), a new initiative designed to attract international investment and serve as a gateway for businesses expanding into Central Asia and Eurasia. The project is positioned as a strategic opportunity for Indonesian companies looking to grow beyond the ASEAN region.

The launch event, held on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, was attended by senior government officials and international delegates. A symbolic geotag activation marked the birth of the new international investment and financial centre. In his opening address, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov stated that shifts in the global economy are driving the need for new business hubs that prioritise international standards, freedom of innovation, and certainty for long-term investment. He noted that Kyrgyzstan is ready to become such a centre, adopting global best practices to build a financial hub from scratch, complete with an independent court, a modern regulator, and stable rules.

A key factor for investor confidence is the legal framework, which is governed by a special law and fully based on the principles of English Common Law. This system is already familiar to the Indonesian private sector, as it is widely used in structuring international business transactions. In addition to an independent court and its own financial regulator, Tamchy offers substantial tax incentives for resident companies, including tax exemptions for up to 49 years with a zero percent rate on corporate income tax, dividends, capital gains, and Value Added Tax (VAT).

Recognising the geographical distance between Jakarta and Bishkek, the Kyrgyz government has made the entire Tamchy jurisdiction digitally based. All processes, from company incorporation to daily operational management and reporting, can be completed online without requiring physical presence. Unlike densely populated Asian metropolitan cities, Tamchy offers a concept that combines global business activity with a pristine natural environment, set against the backdrop of the Tian Shan mountains.

Ali Ijaz Ahmad, First Deputy Chairman of the Tamchy SFIT Management Board, stated that world-class financial centres are built by understanding the needs of international investors and businesses. He described Tamchy as a trusted and flexible platform ready to support investment for companies targeting sustainable growth. International interest is already materialising, with South Korean holding company Serim among the first residents. Serim CEO Seo Dong Hyun explained that after thirty years of investing in semiconductors, high technology, and energy, he concluded that legal certainty and trust in the regulatory system are the main foundations for long-term investment, and that Tamchy was built on these principles. He noted the ambitious project was realised in just 12 months, faster than other jurisdictions he has known.

The Kyrgyz government is targeting to attract approximately 4,000 resident companies to Tamchy SFIT by 2035, with the goal of making the territory a major investment and financial bridge connecting Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
