Kyai and Leaders of Islamic Organisations Gather at the Presidential Palace Ahead of Iftar with Prabowo
Jakarta – CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto invited kyai and leaders of Islamic mass organisations to foster ties and break their fast together in the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The invited guests had arrived at the palace precinct since 16:00 WIB.
According to CNBC Indonesia’s observations, the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Muhammad Anwar Iskandar, together with the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning / Head of the National Land Agency, Nusron Wahid, arrived earlier.
‘Breaking fast together,’ Anwar said when asked by reporters.
Anwar said that the breaking-fast gathering would also be attended by all Islamic mass organisations and even leaders of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). Nevertheless, he could not disclose what topics would be discussed with the president, including Indonesia’s position on the Board of Peace (BoP).
‘I don’t know, I don’t know that, I don’t know that,’ he said when asked about the MUI’s stance calling for Indonesia to withdraw from the BoP.
Moreover, Nusron said the event would be attended by the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK).
‘Mr JK has been invited in his capacity as Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council,’ Nusron said.
Not only Anwar and Nusron, other figures seen included Rais Aam PBNU Miftachul Akhyar and Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan.
