KY Chairman Abdul Chair Ramadhan Receives Highest Nobility Title from Surakarta Sunanate
The conferment of the title was carried out by Pakoe Boewono XIV before the series of events commemorating 1 Suro at the Karaton Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat on Tuesday (16/6) at around 7 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. Abdul Chair expressed his gratitude for the honour, stating he was deeply moved and happy as he had never imagined receiving it. The Kanjeng Pangeran Adipati (KPA) title is the highest honorary nobility title within the Surakarta Hadiningrat Sunanate. The award serves as a form of respect from the Sunanate to a national figure deemed to have contributed to the progress of the Karaton Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The moment held special significance as it coincided with the 1 Suro tradition, an important cultural and spiritual agenda in the Javanese calendar routinely observed by the Karaton. Receiving the KPA title places Abdul Chair Ramadhan among the ranks of national figures who have obtained the highest honour from the Sunanate. The title carries not only symbolic value but also reflects recognition of the recipient’s dedication, integrity, and contribution to national and state life. The conferment ceremony was attended by royal family circles, community figures, cultural observers, and invited guests participating in the 1 Suro eve commemoration at the Karaton.
