KWP and BNI Drive Education Awareness Movement Ahead of New School Year

The Parliamentary Journalists Coordinator (KWP) alongside PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) has launched a social campaign titled “KWP Berbagi! KWP Peduli Pendidikan”, distributing aid to several regions. The symbolic launch was held at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Through this initiative, the KWP, as an organisation of journalists covering Parliament, is helping to provide school essentials for underprivileged children ahead of the impending new school year. KWP Chairman Ariawan asserted that the agenda stemmed from a deep desire among journalists to serve not merely as recorders of events, but as agents of change who contribute directly to society, particularly in education. “We are preparing for the new school year for our younger siblings. We are giving our attention to them in several regions,” Ariawan stated. He explained that through strategic cooperation with BNI, they managed to collect and distribute thousands of school equipment packages across densely populated clusters in three provinces: DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java, totalling 2,000 packages. “This is part of the concern of the Parliamentary Journalists Coordinator (KWP), the concern of journalists for the world of education, specifically supporting school equipment,” Ariawan said. Furthermore, Ariawan noted that the inspiration for this humanitarian activity arose from the journalists’ daily field experiences while carrying out their journalistic duties. Frequently witnessing social realities in the community triggerred a collective empathy among media personnel to act beyond the newsroom. “We also want to contribute to our younger siblings, children who truly need school supplies so that they have a high spirit for learning in the new school year,” he added. The handover ceremony for the thousands of packages was conducted symbolically to representatives of the child beneficiaries, witnessed and presented directly by members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from various commissions and representatives from BNI management. Figures who symbolically handed over the aid included Deputy Chairman of House Commission X Kurniasih Mufidayati, Deputy Chairman of House Commission XI Fauzi Amro, Member of House Commission VI Herman Khaeron, Member of House Commission VI Ahmad Labib, BNI CSR Department Head Kliko TB Mulyono, and KWP Chairman Ariawan. The presence of legislators from Commission VI (State-Owned Enterprises), Commission X (Education), and Commission XI (Finance/Banking) appeared to affirm the synergy and full support of parliament for the social collaboration established between the journalist community and the banking sector to drive optimal educational participation rates in Indonesia.
