The Parliamentary Journalists’ Coordinatoriat (KWP) has launched a social initiative titled ‘KWP Berbagi! KWP Peduli Pendidikan’ across several regions. The symbolic launch took place at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, reflecting KWP’s concern for the future of the nation’s youth. In collaboration with PT BNI (Persero) Tbk, KWP is helping to meet the school support needs of underprivileged children ahead of the upcoming new academic year. KWP Chairman Ariawan stated that the agenda stemmed from journalists’ desire to contribute directly to society, particularly in the education sector. ‘We are preparing for the new school year for our younger siblings. We are giving our attention to them in several regions,’ Ariawan said on Thursday (11/6/2026). To broaden the reach of this initiative, KWP partnered with the state-owned bank BNI. Through this collaboration, they collected and distributed thousands of school supply packages across several densely populated clusters in three provinces. ‘We partnered with BNI, distributing packages in areas of DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java. The total number of school supply packages distributed is 2,000. This is part of our concern at the Parliamentary Journalists’ Coordinatoriat, journalists’ concern for the world of education, specifically supporting school equipment,’ Ariawan stated. He further explained that the inspiration for this activity came from journalists’ field experiences during journalistic assignments. Frequently witnessing situations in the community triggered a collective empathy to act beyond the newsroom. ‘Often, we cover events distributing social activities and aid to schoolchildren. We also want not just to cover, report, but also to be part of contributing to our younger siblings, children who really need school supplies so they have high learning enthusiasm for the new school year,’ he said. The symbolic handover of the thousands of packages was witnessed and directly presented by members of the House of Representatives (DPR) from various commissions and BNI management representatives. Figures who symbolically handed over the assistance included Deputy Chair of Commission X DPR Hj. Kurniasih Mufidayati, Deputy Chair of Commission XI DPR Fauzi Amro, member of Commission VI DPR Herman Khaeron, member of Commission VI DPR Ahmad Labib, CSR Department Head of BNI Kliko TB Mulyono, and KWP Chairman Ariawan. The presence of legislators from Commission VI, Commission X, and Commission XI demonstrates the synergy and full support from parliament for the social collaboration built between the journalist community and the banking sector to drive optimal education participation rates in Indonesia.
