KWP and BNI Distribute 2,000 School Supply Packages Across Three Provinces
The Parliamentary Journalists Coordinatorate (Kuala Lumpur/KWP) has organised a social action titled ‘KWP Berbagi! KWP Peduli Pendidikan’ (KWP Shares! KWP Cares for Education) across several regions. The social action was symbolically held at the Parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, as a demonstration of KWP’s commitment to the future of the nation’s younger generation.
In collaboration with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, also known as BNI, KWP is assisting in meeting the school supply needs of underprivileged children ahead of the upcoming academic year. The Chairman of KWP, Ariawan, stated that this agenda stems from the journalists’ desire to contribute directly to society, particularly in the field of education.
“We are preparing for the new academic year for our younger siblings in school. We are providing our attention and care to them in several regions,” said Ariawan during the event on Thursday (11/06/2026).
To expand the reach of this initiative, KWP has partnered with the state-owned bank, BNI. Through this partnership, they have collected and distributed thousands of school supply packages across various densely populated clusters in three provinces.
“We have partnered with BNI to distribute these in several areas within DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java. The total number of school supply packages we are distributing is 2,000. This is part of the care shown by the Parliamentary Journalists Coordinatorate (KWP) and journalists towards the world of education, specifically regarding school equipment,” said Ariawan.
Furthermore, Ariawan explained that the inspiration for this activity arose from the journalists’ field experiences while performing their journalistic duties. Frequently witnessing social conditions in society has triggered a collective empathy to act beyond the newsroom.
“In many moments, we often cover social activities and the distribution of aid to schoolchildren. We want to be more than just reporters who cover and report; we also want to be part of the contribution, providing for our younger siblings and children who truly need school supplies so that they have high spirits for learning in the new academic year,” he added.
The symbolic handover of the thousands of packages was conducted to representatives of the beneficiary children, witnessed and presented directly by members of various parliamentary commissions and BNI management representatives.
Figures involved in the symbolic handover included the Vice Chair of Commission X of the DPR, Hj. Kurniasub Mufidayati; the Vice Chair of Commission XI of the DPR, Fauzi Amro; members of Commission VI of the DPR, Herman Khaeron and Ahmad Labib; BNI Kliko CSR Department Head, TB Mulyono; and the Chairman of KWP, Ariawan.
The presence of legislators from Commissions VI, X, and XI demonstrates the synergy and full support from Parliament for the social collaboration established between the journalist community and the banking sector to encourage optimal education participation rates in Indonesia.
