Kuwait's main oil facility damaged in Iranian attack

ISTANBUL (ANTARA) - A major oil facility in Kuwait was damaged after being repeatedly attacked by Iran on Saturday morning, according to a statement from the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.

The attack left a number of people injured, who are being treated in hospital. Meanwhile, the facility suffered significant damage.

Earlier the same day, Kuwait Army General Headquarters personnel said air defence forces continued to repel combined missile and drone attacks.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its forces had succeeded in attacking a fuel terminal at the port of Al Ahmadi in Kuwait, which supplies the US fleet.

Since 8 July 2026, US military forces have launched a series of attacks against Iran.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed the attacks were retaliation for Iran’s actions against commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian forces then launched counter-attacks on US air bases in several countries across the Middle East.

On 9 July 2026, US President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran was no longer in effect.
