Kuwaiti Tanker Burns After Iranian Attack in Dubai Port

A massive Kuwaiti tanker caught fire in Dubai Port, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The ship burned after being attacked by Iran. According to AFP news agency on Tuesday (31/3/2026), the Kuwaiti government media outlet KUNA, citing a statement from the Kuwaiti oil company, stated that the massive tanker became the target of a direct attack by Iran. It said the vessel was in the anchoring area of Dubai Port. “The massive Kuwaiti crude oil tanker became the target of a direct and malicious attack from Iran while in the anchoring area of Dubai Port in the UAE,” reported the official KUNA news agency. There were no fatalities in this incident. The Kuwaiti military stated that its air defence responded to “enemy missile and drone attacks”, according to a post on X. As previously known, Iran was also reported to have attacked a power plant in Kuwait. One Indian worker was reported dead in this attack. “A service building at the power plant and water desalination factory was attacked as part of Iran’s aggression against the State of Kuwait, resulting in the death of an Indian worker and significant material damage to the building,” said spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Energy, Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, as cited by AFP on Monday (30/3). Fatima said the attack also caused building damage. Iran is known to have launched several attacks on Kuwait. Some time ago, 12 people had already been killed due to Iranian attacks, which were known to have been launched in retaliation against attacks by the United States (US) and Israel.
