Kuwait reports border attacks and offshore oil platform strike
Kuwait City (ANTARA) - Kuwait stated that three land border posts in the north were attacked, causing material damage, while other enemy drone strikes hit an offshore oil platform, injuring one worker and causing material damage.
The Kuwait Armed Forces General Staff said on the social media platform X on Sunday that the targeted platform was operated by Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwaiti territorial waters.
The General Staff did not identify who was responsible for the attacks.
The incident coincided with a third round of American strikes on targets in Iran, while Iranian media reported the country’s retaliation against US military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.
On the same Sunday, Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority announced that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz was currently not possible, citing “illegal movements” by the US fleet in the region in recent days.
The latest developments come despite the enforcement of a memorandum of understanding on peace signed by the United States and Iran in mid-June.
