Kuwait has reopened its airspace that was previously closed. This policy was first implemented since the outbreak of the US-Israel war against Iran at the end of February.

“The airspace at Kuwait International Airport has been reopened starting from Thursday, after the temporary and preventive suspension of air traffic since 28 February due to the situation in the region,” said the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Hamoud Mubarak, as reported by Al Jazeera on Friday (24/4/2026).

Mubarak stated that this step was taken with careful consideration. He said that the relevant authorities have completed an assessment of the damage suffered by several airport facilities due to attacks by Iran and armed groups affiliated with it.

“It is part of a gradual plan that has been carefully considered to restore air traffic gradually in preparation for the full operational readiness of the airport in the coming period,” he said.

He also thanked Saudi Arabia for facilitating the operations of his country’s airlines.

“The cooperation and support in facilitating the operations of Kuwaiti airlines through their airports during this period,” he said.
