Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar have issued strong condemnations following a series of Iranian attacks on their territories, warning that the strikes represent a dangerous escalation that undermines regional peace and diplomatic efforts. The attacks, which Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said targeted US military facilities, have drawn widespread regional criticism.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the targeting of its territory threatens regional peace and security and weakens diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation. The ministry asserted Kuwait’s right to take any necessary measures to protect its security and sovereignty in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

Oman also condemned the attack on its territory, which occurred just hours after it hosted Iran’s foreign minister for discussions on security in the Strait of Hormuz. The Oman News Agency reported that a location in the Musandam province, a mountainous area bordering the United Arab Emirates and overlooking the strategic waterway, was targeted by a drone. The Omani government said it was taking all necessary steps to address the development and ensure the safety of the country and its residents.

Qatar’s foreign ministry issued a statement condemning the attacks on its territory and neighbouring countries, including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait, calling them a dangerous escalation. The condemnation was echoed by other nations across the region, including Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Prior to the condemnations, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched heavy and sudden strikes against logistical support centres and refuelling platforms used by US aircraft carriers at the port of Duqm in Oman’s al-Wusta province. Iranian state media also reported that the military launched waves of drone strikes against US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain, targeting Patriot air defence systems, ammunition depots, radar sites, and communication systems. Iran’s military described the operations as a response to what it called sustained US attacks on southern Iran.
