Kuwait Launches Emergency Fund to Repair War-Damaged Infrastructure
Kuwait announced on Sunday the launch of an emergency response fund with an initial capital of 100 million US dollars, as part of the country’s efforts to repair facilities damaged by the war with Iran. The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund, launched by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), aims to create an emergency financing framework and strengthen the national crisis response, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said at a press conference. The Kuwaiti foreign minister said the fund will support Kuwait’s efforts to repair infrastructure damaged by what he termed ‘Iranian aggression’. KFAED Acting Director-General Waleed Al-Bahar stated that the establishment of the fund is an implementation of a Kuwaiti cabinet decision, adding that the fund will assess funding applications and prioritise projects. He also urged government agencies and the private sector to contribute to the new fund.
