Kuwait discovers gas in RI

KUWAIT CITY (AFP): Kuwait's state company responsible for
producing oil abroad said on Sunday it had discovered natural gas
in an exploration well off the coast of Indonesia.

"Wireline logging information has proven substantial gas
column in eight separate reservoir sands" in Natuna Sea Block A,
Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) said in a
statement.

KUFPEC has a one-third stake in the major exploration deal in
Indonesia, while operator Premier Oil Natuna Sea Ltd. has the
remainder.

The discovered gas will be exported to Singapore via a 640 km
(400 miles) underwater pipeline.

KUFPEC is currently also involved in oil production in
Australia, China, Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, Tunisia and Yemen.
