Kuwait Claims to Have Intercepted Iranian Drone Attack

Kuwait’s military General Staff stated its air defences ‘confronted an enemy missile and drone attack’ following ‘Iran’s sinful aggression’. ‘Every explosion heard was a result of the air defence systems intercepting the enemy attack,’ it said via a post on X. The warning came hours after Iran’s army claimed a large-scale drone strike on an ammunition depot at Camp Buehring, formerly known as Camp Udairi, and air defence radar systems at Ali Al Salem Air Base. The US military had previously announced it had launched new airstrikes against Iran to ‘swiftly punish’ the country for killing American military personnel. ‘These strikes are designed to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces that launched an attack against US service members in Jordan last night,’ US Central Command said in a post on X. CENTCOM earlier announced that two US service members were killed and one was missing in action, marking the first American military fatalities from Iranian fire since March. ‘Two US service members were killed as US and allied forces defended against an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack,’ CENTCOM stated. Four other personnel were evacuated to a hospital in Jordan for medical treatment. Iran threatened to continue ‘full-scale offensive operations’ if the US persists with waves of strikes against the country. The threat, as reported by AFP and Egypt Independent, was made by a senior official of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, who is also a senior military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
