KUTOARJO, KOMPAS.com — The surge in passengers during the Eid 2026 return flow at Kutoarjo Station in Purworejo Regency, Central Java, showed significant figures.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 5 Purwokerto recorded that 64,153 tickets had been sold for departures from the station during the Eid Transportation period, from 11 March to 1 April 2026.

The data was compiled up to Wednesday morning (25/3/2026), with the peak return flow occurring on Monday (23/3/2026). On that day, the number of passengers departing from Kutoarjo Station reached 6,539 people.

Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto, M. As’ad Habibuddin, stated that the high numbers reflect the increased mobility of the public after Eid, particularly from southern Central Java.

“We see high enthusiasm from the public for using trains during the return flow, especially from Kutoarjo Station, which is one of the main departure points in the Daop 5 region,” said As’ad via telephone connection.

This promotion applies to ticket purchases from 25 March to 1 April 2026, with the travel period on the same dates. Discounts can be obtained through all official sales channels, including the Access by KAI application.

However, As’ad emphasised that the price reduction does not apply to all types of services. Trains with premium facilities such as Suite Class Compartment, Luxury, Priority, Imperial, Panoramic, and tourist trains are not included in this programme.

Additionally, the discounted fares cannot be combined with other promotions or reduced fares. Nevertheless, tickets purchased can still be cancelled or rescheduled according to the applicable provisions.

Amid the high passenger volume, KAI urges the public to prepare their journeys thoroughly. Prospective passengers are advised to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure to anticipate queues or potential delays.

KAI also encourages the use of technology to speed up the boarding process. At Kutoarjo Station, customers can already use the Face Recognition facility, which allows the boarding process to be more practical without needing to show a physical ticket.

“With this high return flow, we continue to strive to maintain service quality so that journeys remain safe, comfortable, and on time,” said As’ad.

He also invited the public to take advantage of the available discount promotion during this Eid return flow period, making travel more economical without reducing comfort.

“With the high number of departures from Kutoarjo Station, KAI is optimistic that rail transport remains the primary choice for the public for long-distance travel, especially during long holiday moments like Eid,” he concluded.
