Kuta Karnival to bring joy to Bali

Kuta and beyond will come alive with series of joyful events, parades, sports competitions and art performances for 10 consecutive days starting Sept. 24 through Oct. 3.

First held in 2003, the Karnival will become an annual event to encourage friendships and brotherhood among people living and visiting Kuta and beyond.

Last year's event bore the specific theme, "Celebration of Life, A Remembrance of Life." The 2004 Karnival will have a quite similar theme emphasizing the Hindu concept of harmony, "A Celebration of Life, Tri Hita Karana", the three Hindu sources of harmony and happiness.

The Karnival will start on Sept. 24 with a special opening ceremony on Kuta Beach. There are numerous events following the opening ceremony, including a surfing championship, skateboarding, beach soccer and volleyball, food festival, theatrical performance, kite festival, traditional art exhibition and performances, rock concerts and many other exciting activities.
