Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Maman Abdurrahman has invited micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) operators in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to optimally utilise the People’s Business Credit (KUR) programme as a lever for business development.

The invitation was delivered by Maman when opening the Socialisation and Mass KUR Agreement for East Nusa Tenggara Province in Labuan Bajo on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

According to him, the utilisation of KUR must be accompanied by disciplined use of funds, good business management, and innovation to expand markets.

He emphasised that the socialisation and mass agreement activity is a strategic step to expand the reach of KUR while encouraging increased financing access for UMKM.

Such efforts, he said, are in line with the target proportion of banking financing of 25 percent for UMKM.

“This momentum is an effort to accelerate the realisation of the 2026 KUR disbursement target, while strengthening synergy between the government and financial institutions in supporting UMKM financing,” said Maman.

The quality of disbursements is also said to continue improving. This is reflected in 63.12 percent of KUR that has been channelled to the production sector, which has long been the government’s focus to strengthen business capacity and productivity of UMKM operators.

At the regional level, KUR disbursements in East Nusa Tenggara Province have reached Rp 898 billion to more than 19,000 UMKM operators.

This achievement shows that financing access in NTT continues to develop, amid the region’s substantial economic potential, including as one of the national premier tourism destinations that opens opportunities for UMKM development and integration into the global market.

On the same occasion, a KUR Financing Cooperation Agreement (PKP) was signed between the Ministry of UMKM as the Authorised User of the KUR Budget and PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Nusa Tenggara Timur as the KUR distributor.

Maman appreciated the readiness of Bank NTT, which can once again disburse KUR worth around Rp 350 billion, after previously not disbursing.

According to him, the role of banks is not limited to disbursing financing, but also needs to be strengthened through business mentoring and improving financial literacy for customers.
