Kupang Village Head Reported to Police After Assaulting Uncle, Breaking Ribs
Yorim Buknoni has been reported to the police over the alleged assault of his uncle, Maklon Buknoni (45), which resulted in a broken rib. Yorim is the Head of Faumes Village, Amfoang Barat Laut District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
“I have reported this case to the Kupang Police because I suffered a severe assault,” Maklon said when met in Kupang City, NTT, on Thursday (2/7/2026). Maklon himself serves as the Head of Community Welfare Affairs for Faumes Village.
Maklon explained that the assault occurred after he and Yorim had finished inspecting a water tank facility belonging to Faumes Village on Monday (19/1). Afterwards, they rested and drank coffee together at the home of the Head of Hamlet 3, Faumes Village, Yunius Banu.
When Maklon was about to excuse himself to go home, Yorim asked him to be patient and leave together. Not long after, they began consuming a bottle of traditional liquor called sopi. Yorim then asked to buy another bottle, but Maklon refused to continue drinking.
“I said, ‘No more, Village Head, because I haven’t even had breakfast at all.’ But he forced me to drink, so in the end I drank just one small glass,” Maklon recounted.
“Not long after, I was drunk and asleep on a chair. That’s when he punched and kicked me until I fell to the ground,” he added.
Maklon said Yorim continued to punch him in the face twice, hit his head once, and kicked his right ribs until they broke. As a result of the assault, Maklon sustained an injury to his left eye, swelling on the top of his head, and a broken right rib.
“To this day, my rib is still broken and very painful. Perhaps at that time, he intended to kill me,” Maklon said.
Maklon reported the alleged assault to the Kupang Police on Monday (26/1). He also stated that he has given his statement twice before investigators.
“But until now, the perpetrator has not been arrested. I just need justice and legal certainty. So, the perpetrator should be arrested as soon as possible to be processed legally,” Maklon explained.
Kupang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Iptu Helmi Wildan, confirmed the police report filed against the Faumes Village Head. According to him, the Kupang Police have issued a summons to the reported individual, but Yorim failed to appear.
“We have summoned the reported individual, but he did not attend (ignored the summons),” Wildan said.
Wildan stressed that a second summons is scheduled for 7 July. Meanwhile, Yorim has not responded to detikBali’s request for confirmation regarding the alleged assault case.
