Kupang to become new municipality

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: To welcome the promotion of Kupang to the status of municipal city on March 20, the governor has called on the public to renovate the city.

Herman Musakabe told the people to demolish useless old buildings and remove eyesores. He said earlier that 10 old buildings, including a former high court building, would be demolished.

Businessmen and shop-owners were told to keep the city clean while maintaining the green belts in the city, which has a population of 160,000 people and consists of 25 subdistricts.

Herman said that as Kupang has become a municipal city, the capital of the regency will be moved to Sulamo. The new municipality will be extended by 230 square kilometers. (16)
