The Kupang Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC) has destroyed illegal goods valued at Rp 1.5 billion. These illegal items, which have since become state-owned assets (BMN), are the result of enforcement actions carried out between August 2025 and April 2026.

“Through this destruction, Customs has successfully prevented potential state losses of Rp 1,029,125,155,” explained the Head of the Kupang Customs Office, Machbub Dumron, at the Kupang Customs Operations Base yard on Thursday (2/7/2026).

Machbub revealed that the illegal goods consisted of 1 million illegal cigarettes, 6.35 litres of alcoholic beverages (MMEA), and 21 bales of imported second-hand clothing. He emphasised that the government will not provide any space for the circulation of illegal goods.

“The illegal goods were destroyed by being burnt,” added Machbub.

Machbub also highlighted the widespread circulation of illegal cigarettes and imported clothing bales. He noted that the circulation of imported second-hand clothing could stifle the domestic textile industry.

“The support and active role of the community in reporting indications of illegal goods circulation are greatly needed to create a healthy business climate and protect the national economy,” he concluded.
