Kupang City Government Launches 'Satu Data' Portal

The launch of the Satu Data portal represents a concrete commitment by the Kupang City Government to implement the mandate of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure (KIP). Citizens no longer need to physically visit the city hall to review the use of regional funds or governance management.

“The public has the right to know how the people’s money is managed and what policies are being formulated. This portal is a form of our accountability,” said a representative of the Kupang City Government official.

Through this digital portal, the public can easily download important documents that were previously difficult to access. This facility is expected to reduce the potential for maladministration and illegal levy practices, as bureaucratic procedures and budgets are now clearly displayed and can be directly monitored by the public.

Transparency activists and civil society groups have responded positively to the portal’s launch. However, the government still faces the task of conducting massive socialisation, particularly for residents living in suburban areas or those with limited internet access. To reach all levels of society, the Kupang City Government stated it will place periodically updated public information boards at every sub-district and district office. Additionally, the main Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) remains on standby to serve requests for specific information not yet available on the web portal.

This innovative step is expected to become a strong foundation for the creation of good governance in Kupang City, while simultaneously increasing public trust in government institutions.
