Kupang City Government Issues 1,001 New Business Identification Numbers by April 2026
Kupang, NTT (ANTARA) - The Kupang City Government (Pemkot) in East Nusa Tenggara Timur, through the Public Service Mall (MPP), has issued 1,001 new Business Identification Numbers (NIBs) during the period from January to April 2026. “From January to April 2026, the Kupang City MPP has facilitated the issuance of 1,001 new NIBs, consisting of 995 micro and small business units (UMK) and six non-UMK units,” said Penina Lauata, Secretary of the Kupang City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), in Kupang on Wednesday. She noted that in the same period in 2025, according to data from the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, the Kupang City DPMPTSP recorded the issuance of 1,095 new NIBs. “As of Wednesday (13/5), the total number of all NIBs in Kupang City is recorded at 22,335,” she added. She emphasised that obtaining an NIB is important and beneficial for business actors as proof of legality, easing access to funding such as Micro Business Credit (KUR), and encouraging MSMEs to scale up. This, according to her, is in line with the priority programme of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kupang to drive the regional economy based on MSME development. “NIB registration is online-based, so business actors can register independently. However, if direct assistance is needed, we also provide services at the Kupang City MPP,” she said. In addition to being located at the Kupang City DPMPTSP Office, the MPP counter is also present every Saturday at the El Tari Kupang Car Free Day (CFD) venue and the Saboak Koepan arena at Kupang Nostalgia Park, to bring service access closer to the community. Penina stressed that NIB registration is free of charge, with business actors only needing to prepare their ID card, WhatsApp number, email, and a photo of the business location in Kupang City. She added that the city government continues to disseminate information to educate business actors on the benefits and to register for NIBs. “We are also actively spreading this information through social media posts like Instagram, as well as online news and radio,” she said. She hopes that more MSME actors will register for NIBs to support the growth of the business ecosystem in the Kupang City area.
