Kuntadi Proposed as New Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes

The figure of Kuntadi has emerged as the proposed replacement for Febrie Adriansyah as the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has sent a letter to the Presidential Palace, formally nominating Kuntadi for the role.

Kuntadi is a senior prosecutor born in Semarang, Central Java, in January 1970. He began his career at the Attorney General’s Office in 1996 as an administrative staff member within Jampidsus. His career progressed steadily, and in 2017 he was appointed as the Director of Monitoring at the Junior Attorney General’s Office for Intelligence.

His public profile rose significantly during his tenure as the Director of Investigation at Jampidsus, a position he assumed in 2022. In this role, he led the investigation into the high-profile corruption case involving the construction of 4G BTS towers at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, which caused state losses of Rp 8 trillion and implicated 16 suspects, including former Minister Johnny G. Plate. He also oversaw the investigation into the corruption case at state-owned tin miner PT Timah Tbk, which resulted in state losses of Rp 300 trillion and involved Harvey Moeis, the husband of celebrity Sandra Dewi, as a suspect.

After two years as Director of Investigation, Kuntadi was promoted to Head of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office in 2024, before being transferred to lead the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office. In November 2025, President Prabowo appointed him as Head of the Asset Recovery Agency at the Attorney General’s Office, based on Presidential Decree Number 179/TPA of 2025.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that the presidential office had received the official proposal from the Attorney General on Tuesday, 14 July, nominating Kuntadi to fill the vacant Jampidsus position. The previous officeholder, Febrie Adriansyah, stepped down after being named a suspect in three corruption cases, which are currently being handled by Jampidsus following a transfer from the police.
