Kuntadi Appointed as New Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Here is His Track Record
Jakarta (ANTARA) - On Friday morning, former Head of the Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Agency (BPA), Kuntadi, was officially sworn in by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin as the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).
He was appointed to replace Febrie Adriansyah, who resigned after becoming implicated in an alleged corruption and money laundering case.
Kuntadi’s installation followed President Prabowo Subianto’s appointment of five new mid-level leadership officials within the Attorney General’s Office under Presidential Decree Number 87/TPA of 2026.
In the world of law enforcement, Kuntadi’s name is well known. He is a prosecutor who has held numerous strategic positions. The following is his track record.
Kuntadi is a prosecutor born in Semarang, Central Java, on 4 January 1970. He studied at the Faculty of Law of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed).
His career at the Attorney General’s Office began in 1996 as an administrative staff member in the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes division. He later became a functional prosecutor.
Kuntadi has held several strategic posts, including Coordinator at the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, Head of the Lubuklinggau District Prosecutor’s Office, Head of Sub-directorate at the Junior Attorney General for Intelligence, and Head of the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2020, he began serving as General Assistant to the Attorney General. Two years later, in 2022, he was entrusted as Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes.
Under Kuntadi’s leadership, several prominent cases were handled, including the tin trading corruption case within the mining business permit area of PT Timah Tbk from 2015 to 2022, which ensnared celebrity Dewi Sandra’s husband, Harvey Moeis.
Another case was the corruption in the procurement of 4G base transceiver station (BTS) infrastructure by the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (Bakti) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics between 2020 and 2022. In that case, the Attorney General’s Office named former Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny Gerard Plate as a suspect.
In 2024, Kuntadi took on a new post as Head of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office. A year later, in April 2025, he was sworn in as Head of the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, replacing Mia Amiati.
Several months later, Kuntadi was appointed Head of the Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Agency (BPA).
During his tenure, the BPA successfully handed over non-tax state revenue from asset recoveries worth Rp1.029 trillion to the Ministry of Finance. The amount came from proceeds of the BPA Fair auction and the recovery of assets belonging to Eddy Tansil, who was convicted in an embezzlement case.
Shortly after serving as Head of the BPA, Kuntadi has now been entrusted with the role of Jampidsus, replacing Febrie Adriansyah.
