Kuntadi Appointed as New Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes

President Prabowo Subianto has officially appointed Kuntadi as the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). He fills the position left vacant by Febrie Adriansyah, who is implicated in a money laundering case. The appointment was formalised through a presidential decree signed by Prabowo on Wednesday (22/7). Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the decision, stating it was based on a recommendation from the Final Assessment Team following a proposal by the Attorney General. ‘Regarding the presidential decree, based on the Attorney General’s proposal concerning officials within the Attorney General’s Office, we can inform you that yesterday the President signed the decree in accordance with the Final Assessment Team’s evaluation, as referred to in the Attorney General’s proposal letter,’ Prasetyo Hadi said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7). Many view Kuntadi as the right figure for the role. A recipient of the 2024 Adhyaksa Award in the category of Tough Prosecutor in Corruption Eradication, he has a strong track record in handling corruption cases. Some of the major cases he has managed include a project corruption case that caused state losses of IDR 8 trillion and implicated 16 suspects, including former Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate. Kuntadi also led the investigation into a corruption case within PT Timah Tbk, which resulted in state losses of up to IDR 300 trillion. Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), Rudianto Lallo, stated that Kuntadi’s presence as Jampidsus offers new hope for the public. Echoing this sentiment, Chairman of Commission III, Habiburokhman, expressed his full confidence that Kuntadi will become the spearhead of corruption case handling in Indonesia. ‘I, Habiburokhman, as Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, congratulate Mr. Kuntadi on his appointment as the new Jampidsus. He is known as a clean, high-integrity, and independent prosecutor,’ Habiburokhman said on Thursday (23/7/2026).
