Kuntadi Appointed as New Jampidsus, DPR’s Sahroni Warns: Don’t Play Favourites with Cases

President Prabowo Subianto has officially appointed Kuntadi as the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) via a Presidential Decree, replacing Febrie Ardiansyah. Deputy Chairman of House Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni, urged Kuntadi to be tough on corruption and not to trifle with graft. “My message to Mr Kuntadi is that he must be fierce towards corruptors and not play games with corruption,” Sahroni said when contacted on Wednesday (22/7/2026). He also reminded Kuntadi not to play favourites with major cases. He further called for the Attorney General’s Office to maintain its independence in investigating the case involving Febrie Ardiansyah. “My message to Mr Kuntadi is also not to play favourites with major cases and to prove to the public that the prosecutor’s office is independent and can resolve cases quickly, especially by presenting the former Jampidsus to the public,” he said. Furthermore, Sahroni viewed the appointment of Kuntadi as highly appropriate. He believes Kuntadi possesses strong integrity. “The appointment of Kuntadi as Jampidsus to replace Febrie is very good; I know he has strong integrity,” he stated. Previously, President Prabowo signed the Presidential Decree regarding the Jampidsus position to replace Febrie Adriansyah, who has been named a suspect. Prabowo appointed Kuntadi as the new Jampidsus at the Attorney General’s Office. “Regarding the presidential decree, in accordance with the proposal from the Attorney General concerning officials within the Attorney General’s Office, we can inform you that yesterday the President signed the decree based on the assessment of the Final Assessment Team, referring to the proposal letter from the Attorney General,” said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7). Pras said his office would hand over the excerpt of the presidential decree regarding the new Jampidsus appointment to the Attorney General’s Office today. “The plan is that today we will follow up administratively so that the excerpt of the decree will be sent to the relevant institution, in this case the Attorney General’s Office,” he said.
