The Kuningan Regency Government is targeting zero Rumah Tidak Layak Huni (RTLH), or uninhabitable houses, by 2028. This year, the regency has received a quota of 1,293 units under the central government’s Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) programme. “This number has jumped almost tenfold compared to previous years, which averaged only around 100 units,” said Kuningan Regent Dian Rachmat Yanuar on Wednesday (15/7). He explained that synergy between the central government, regional government, village administrations, and community participation is key to ensuring the programme delivers real benefits to residents. “This programme also supports President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship initiative of building three million homes,” he added. Dian noted that the success of the Housing, Settlement, and Land Agency (Disperkimtan) in increasing the BSPS quota demonstrates that regional governments must actively build communication with the central government to bring more programmes to the community. “Our regional budget is limited. Therefore, a regional head must be able to seize opportunities from the central government. If communication is well established, more programmes can be brought home for the people,” he stressed. The increased quota is seen as crucial capital to accelerate the handling of around 3,000 RTLH still scattered across Kuningan Regency, with the hope that the 2028 zero RTLH target can be achieved. “A home is where family happiness is born. It is where children grow, education begins, and the future is built. Therefore, providing decent housing is an integral part of efforts to improve community welfare,” Dian stated. Head of the Housing, Settlement and Land Agency, Deni Hamdani, explained that the quota increase resulted from intensive communication and coordination between the Kuningan Regency Government and the central government. “This year is an extraordinary achievement. The first batch of 100 houses has already begun construction, while the total quota we have received is 1,293 units and it has the potential to increase further,” he said. He added that the success of the stimulant assistance heavily depends on the spirit of self-help and mutual cooperation within the community. “We are optimistic that the target of Kuningan being free from uninhabitable houses by 2028 can be achieved if all elements move together,” he concluded.
