Kuningan landslide kills one

KUNINGAN, West Java: A landslide has hit the Cimenga subdistrict, Kuningan regency on Tuesday, leaving one person dead and four houses severely damaged.

Fearing more landslides, hundreds of families in the landslide prone subdistrict had been evacuated to safer places.

The landslide happened after incessant rain pounded the area over the past three days, said Sudarta, 46, a local community leader. -- JP
