Kuningan (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) of Kuningan Regency, West Java, has completed the equalisation of telecommunication networks in 48 villages that were previously classified as blankspots, as part of its commitment to providing inclusive digital connectivity.

The Head of the ICT Infrastructure Division of the Kuningan Regency Diskominfo, Heri Juheri, stated in Kuningan on Monday that since 2018, there have been 48 villages not covered by mobile signals, which has hindered communication access and basic services for the community.

“Those 48 villages were initially complete blankspots or had no signal at all. Yet, access to communication and the internet is now a basic need,” he said.

He added that the installation of macro sectoral devices has now been carried out in Gunung Aci Village and Situ Gede Village, Subang Subdistrict, Kuningan, which marks the final stage of the blankspot elimination programme in the area.

Diskominfo, he continued, is also promoting network organisation and opening opportunities for collaboration with various parties to accelerate the equalisation of digital access across all regions of Kuningan Regency.

“Monitoring is conducted jointly with Telkomsel’s Cirebon regional office to ensure that the installed devices function optimally and provide direct benefits to the community,” he said.

He noted that the network is now starting to be utilised by the community, although it is still in the development phase towards more stable and optimal services.

“The installed network devices are currently temporary while awaiting the construction of permanent infrastructure such as towers. However, communication services can already be felt by the community,” he said.

He emphasised that the programme was implemented without using the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), but rather through collaboration between Diskominfo, village governments, and service providers.

Heri assured that Gunung Aci Village is the last area to be completed in the blankspot category, so all villages in Kuningan Regency now have communication network coverage.

“Nevertheless, there are still around 15 villages with weak signals that will be the focus of network quality improvements going forward,” he said.
