KUNINGAN – The step for coffee from Kuningan Regency, West Java, to penetrate the global market is increasingly becoming a reality. This follows the confirmation that coffee from Kuningan Regency will feature at the prestigious World of Coffee Asia 2026, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on 7–9 May 2026.

This confirmation was conveyed by the Regent of Kuningan, Dian Rachmat Yanuar. According to him, the participation of Kuningan coffee in this international event serves as proof that the quality of local products has been recognised and is capable of competing at the global level.

Moreover, coffee from Karangsari Village, Darma Subdistrict, Kuningan Regency, has passed curation and will appear again after previously participating in World of Coffee 2025 in Jakarta. “This is not just about joining an exhibition, but an affirmation that Kuningan coffee is ready to enter the world market. We want Kuningan coffee to truly go international,” stressed Dian on Monday (20/4/2026).

The World of Coffee Asia event is the largest specialty coffee exhibition in the Asian region, organised by the Specialty Coffee Association along with Exporum Inc and the Barista Association of Thailand. The event provides a strategic platform for coffee industry players, from farmers to business actors, to expand networks and open access to global markets.

The 2026 edition marks the third staging after previous events in Busan (2024) and Jakarta (2025). Bangkok was selected as the host due to its rapidly developing coffee ecosystem and strategic position as a business hub in Asia.

Dian revealed that the global coffee industry landscape has changed. Coffee is no longer merely a commodity but a high-value product that sells quality, stories, and experiences.

“We must not stop at raw materials. Kuningan coffee must level up and become a high-quality product with high added value,” he stated.

Dian reminded that without readiness and quality improvements, farmers will be left behind in the increasingly tight global competition. He emphasised that Kuningan coffee farmers must be the main actors.
