Kulon Progo Regional Hospital Instagram Account Hacked; WhatsApp Number Changed by Fraudsters

The official Instagram account of Nyi Ageng Serang Regional General Hospital (RSUD NAS) in Kulon Progo experienced a hacking incident from yesterday until this morning. The hospital has subsequently reported the event to the police.

Information regarding the hack was initially shared via the @gegerkulonprogo Instagram account, which reported that the RSUD NAS account was hijacked to facilitate a gold-trading scam. In addition to the social media breach, the perpetrators attempted to conduct fraud by using a WhatsApp number impersonating the hospital, offering gold at significantly low prices.

Hospital officials confirmed that the hacked Instagram account has been successfully recovered today. The disruption lasted from Monday (8/6) until this morning.

“As of now, the RSUD Nyi Ageng Serang Instagram account @rsudnyiagengserang has been restored following a security breach that occurred from 8 June 2026 until this morning,” stated the Public Relations officer of RSUD Nyi Ageng Serang in a statement on Tuesday (9/6/2026).

The hospital stated that during the hack, the perpetrators also changed the WhatsApp number linked to the hospital’s Instagram account. This number was then utilised by the fraudsters to carry out their scams.

“When the account was hacked, the WhatsApp number connected to the official RSUD NAS Public Relations account was replaced with a fraudulent number impersonating RSUD Nyi Ageng Serang. We have now reported this incident to the police,” the official added.

Furthermore, the hospital has urged the public to remain vigilant against any parties impersonating the hospital’s administration. “Please be cautious of anyone claiming to represent the RSUD Nyi Ageng Serang Public Relations department. The official Public Relations number for RSUD Nyi Ageng Serang is only 085119898800,” the statement concluded.
