Kukar Regency Government Employs New Strategy to Train Village Statisticians for Greater Transparency

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TENGGARONG — The Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government (Kukar), East Kalimantan, is strengthening village data management through the ‘Village Loves Statistics’ (Desa Cantik) programme to produce accurate, complete, up-to-date, and standardised data in line with the Indonesian Single Data standard.

The Regent of Kukar, Aulia Rahman Basri, said that the programme is a strategic step to strengthen village governance, particularly in the management of accountable and evidence-based village data and finances.

“The Desa Cantik programme is a strategic step in strengthening village governance, particularly in the management of accountable and evidence-based village data and finances as a reference for development,” said Aulia in Tenggarong, Friday.

According to him, the Desa Cantik programme aims to improve the capacity of village officials and the community in managing, understanding, and utilising data and statistics in the development process.

In addition, the programme is expected to produce accurate and up-to-date data so that it can be the basis for data-driven decision-making, ranging from the preparation of programmes, budgeting, to the implementation of village development so that it is more targeted.

Aulia emphasised that Desa Cantik is also part of the effort to realise transparent, modern, and accountable village governance based on facts on the ground.

He said that valid data is an important foundation in encouraging village progress gradually, from underdeveloped, developing, advanced, to independent status according to the assessment indicators of the Ministry of Villages.

“Given the importance of data and statistical literacy as a reference for development planning from the village to the central level, the Kukar Regency Government together with the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of East Kalimantan launched the Desa Cantik programme in Loa Kulu Kota Village,” he said.
