KUII VIII Recommends Forming Special Task Force to Investigate Alleged Corruption Case

The 8th Congress of Indonesian Muslims (KUII) VIII has recommended the establishment of a special task force to resolve the alleged corruption case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. The move is deemed crucial to ensure the case is handled transparently and to maintain public trust in law enforcement. The recommendation was read by Commission D representative and Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Legal Affairs, Ihsan Tanjung, during the closing session of KUII VIII at Hotel Bidakara, Jakarta, on Sunday (26/7/2026). Commission D, which addresses political, legal, defence, security, and national development issues, specifically urged the government to form a Special Task Force to handle the case involving Febrie Adriansyah. ‘Resolve it transparently and with integrity to maintain public trust in the rule of law in Indonesia,’ Ihsan said while reading the recommendation. In addition to highlighting the case, Commission D also presented a number of other recommendations in the fields of politics, law, defence, security, and national development, intended as input for improving state governance. The case has drawn public attention as Febrie Adriansyah, a former high-ranking law enforcement official known for handling major corruption cases, has been named a suspect in an alleged corruption case. The development has prompted various responses from the public and civil society groups, who are urging that the legal process be conducted independently, professionally, and openly. Commission D of KUII VIII assessed that the formation of a Special Task Force could be a step to ensure the case is handled accountably and does not raise public doubt about Indonesia’s legal system.
