Kudos for Yogya's police
An important piece of news has come to us from Yogyakarta. Yesterday (Wednesday), police released Dwi Sumadji, who was being held as the sole suspect in the killing of Fuad Muhammad Syafruddin (Udin). His release obviously comes as a relief to many, and not only to his wife and family, who have so far strongly protested his detention and denied allegations that he was a murderer. Nor is Dwi's release being hailed only by Udin's fellow journalists, who have never believed police charges that Dwi was their colleague's murderer.
The news is being hailed by the Indonesian public in general, who have faithfully followed developments concerning the Udin murder case. To all of them, Dwi's release means the triumph of justice, a turn of events that few people had believed could ever become reality. To them, Dwi's release represents a step forward taken by our police force, which had the courage to openly correct what many parties regarded as a mistake.
All this, however, does not entirely relieve the police of the Udin case. People now want to see this murder case solved once and for all, including finding who was involved and what the motives were. The public will certainly be glad to help the police solve the case.
