Kudos for the legislature
Even as it approaches the end of its term, the House of Representatives is earning the public's well-deserved recognition for doing its best to serve the people's interests and by demonstrating its commitment to helping bring about good governance in this country. This is demonstrated in particular through its investigation of the case which has since become widely known as the Bank Bali scandal.
We are aware of the urgency of the accumulating tasks and responsibilities which it has to bear, and it is for this reason that we have always tried to provide input that may help the government set the right priorities and keep in mind that its first and foremost duty is to lead Indonesia toward democracy.
It is in this context that we call on anyone who is either involved or has any knowledge relevant to the Bank Bali case to provide true information so that a faithful picture of the matter may be obtained.
The House of Representative's exertions, however, will not be able to yield the desired results, unless other supporting institutions and agencies display the same determined stance and commitment. Among those institutions, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the police, the public prosecutors' offices and even professing lawyers in general are currently in the public spotlight.
