KuCoin Launches KCUSD to Boost Capital Efficiency for Stablecoin Holders
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (ANTARA/PRNewswire) — KuCoin, the global crypto asset platform that prioritises user trust, today launched KCUSD, an Earn-featured product offering daily yield based on real-world assets. The product is designed to optimise idle stablecoin funds into more productive capital. KCUSD is available to eligible retail users, high-net-worth individuals, and institutional investors. At the initial stage, users can subscribe to KCUSD starting from 1 USDT, USDC, or USDG free of charge, with the option to redeem back into the same asset. KCUSD offers a dynamic base APR of up to 4%, enabling users to earn yield simply by holding KCUSD. Yield is credited daily and automatically added to the user’s KCUSD balance, meaning users earn daily compound interest without needing to reinvest manually. Combining the yield features available today with plans to make KCUSD usable as collateral, the product can enhance capital efficiency while driving yield-bearing assets to become a key part of crypto market infrastructure. During the initial launch period, eligible users using new funds in accordance with the terms may earn a promotional APR of up to 6%.
Stablecoins have become one of the main sources of liquidity in the digital asset market. However, most stablecoin balances remain idle in trading accounts, whether to meet margin requirements or to anticipate opportunities that arise at short notice. If these assets are moved to ordinary staking or a separate Earn-featured product, users struggle to redeploy them quickly for trading. Conversely, if they keep their assets ready for trading, users must sacrifice potential yield. This presents a challenge for institutions, market makers, professional trading firms, and high-net-worth individuals holding large stablecoin balances over the long term. At the initial stage, KCUSD addresses this need on the yield side through a simple mechanism: users simply hold KCUSD to earn yield. Going forward, integrating KCUSD as margin could help users who want to keep earning yield on their assets without losing the flexibility to use them for trading.
“The digital asset market is entering a new phase. Infrastructure is no longer measured solely by the access and liquidity it offers, but also by how efficiently capital is utilised in a financial system that operates 24/7,” said BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin. “In our long-term view, yield, liquidity, and risk management functions should not operate in isolation. KCUSD helps users optimise underutilised balances and is designed to grow into a solution with broader trading features. KCUSD is part of our vision to build more efficient market infrastructure and give greater flexibility to both institutional investors and individual users to participate in the global digital market.”
KCUSD will soon serve as a layer of infrastructure connecting liquidity, asset productivity, and risk management across the KuCoin ecosystem. Starting from its yield features, KCUSD’s role will be gradually expanded to support collateral and trading functions, in line with broader developments in the digital finance landscape. Stablecoins are now evolving from mere transaction settlement instruments and unutilised reserve assets into productive capital supporting a variety of functions in a market that operates around the clock. By developing trusted infrastructure that supports this transformation, KuCoin aims to make capital efficiency a naturally integrated part of the digital asset ecosystem, laying a more connected foundation for the next generation of global financial markets.
