Kuansing Regent Surrenders to KPK After Disappearing During Sting Operation
The whereabouts of the Regent of Kuantan Singarni, Riau, Suhardiman Amby, and Regional Secretary Zulkarnaen, who were being sought by KPK investigators, have finally been revealed. Both have now arrived at the KPK building in Jakarta.
This confirmation was provided directly by Suhardiman Amby’s legal advisor, Rizki Poliang, who accompanied both officials to Jakarta. “It is true, I am currently with the Regent; we have just arrived at the second floor of the KPK building. I am accompanying him in my capacity as legal counsel,” said Rizki Poliang when confirmed on Tuesday (30/06/2026).
Rizki stated that he accompanied Suhardiman to Jakarta alongside Zulkarnaen. They had just landed and proceeded directly to the KPK building. “The Regional Secretary is also here, though I am specifically accompanying the Regent,” Rizki emphasised.
Suhardiman Amby and Zulkarnaen had previously been sought by the KPK. Both had gone missing after investigators conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta recently.
KPK Detains 10 Individuals
As previously reported, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi, Riau Province. The operation is linked to allegations of the sale of official positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government.
“This case is allegedly related to suspected bribery involving the sale of positions in Kuantan Singingi Regency,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK building in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/06/2026).
A total of 10 people were arrested during the sting operation in Kuansing. Budi stated that five individuals were subsequently brought to Jakarta for further interrogation at the KPK’s Merah Putih building.
Budi added that the bribery in this operation pertains to the position of Regional Secretary of Kuantan Singingi. “The bribery is allegedly for the position of Regional Secretary of Kuantan Singingi Regency,” Budi said.
“From the ten individuals, the KPK subsequently brought five people to the Merah Putih building for intensive interrogation,” Budi noted.
He further explained that the five individuals consist of three private sector parties, one civil servant from Kuantan Singingi Regency, and one family member of a local government official.
KPK Seizes Transaction Evidence and Vehicle
In addition to detaining 10 individuals, the KPK has also seized several pieces of evidence. The KPK team also seized a car during the sting operation in Kuansing, which is suspected to be linked to the bribery case in the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government.
“The team also secured several pieces of evidence during this sting operation, including electronic evidence in the form of financial transaction records,” Budi stated at the KPK building in Jakarta.
“Furthermore, the team has secured one four-wheeled vehicle suspected to be an instrument of the bribery carried out by the parties involved,” Budi added.
