The Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Riau Province, Suhardiman Amby, has officially opened the first series of the 2026 Pacu Jalur Festival in Rayon I, Inuman District, along the Kuantan River, marking the start of the region’s signature cultural tourism event. Speaking at the Inuman District Office, Suhardiman emphasised that the smooth opening was due to the active participation of all parties and expressed his deep appreciation to the community. “Let us make this a success and uphold sportsmanship, because Pacu Jalur is our regional identity,” he stated. He further called on all elements of society, including boat owners, traditional leaders, the younger generation, and Kuansing people living away from home, to maintain unity to ensure the success of Pacu Jalur 2026, which will culminate in August. Meanwhile, Rayon I Committee Chairman Emri Nofdiles reported that 47 boats from various villages and sub-districts are participating in the event, with a total prize pool of Rp76.5 million on offer. He urged participants to compete sportingly and in a spirit of kinship. Inuman District Head Suparman thanked the Kuansing Regency Government and the entire community for their support, noting that Pacu Jalur is not merely entertainment but also a means to strengthen social ties and boost local economic activity. The tradition, passed down through generations, embodies values of togetherness, mutual cooperation, and unity within a cultured society.
