Kuansing Regent Named Suspect in Job Auction Bribery Case, Allegedly Received Two Luxury Cars Worth Rp2.75 Billion

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has uncovered an alleged job auction scheme within the Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency administration in Riau, implicating Regent Suhardiman Amby, who serves for the 2025–2030 term, in exchange for two luxury cars worth a total of Rp2.75 billion. Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that Suhardiman is suspected of receiving the vehicles from Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain in connection with the filling of several strategic posts within the local government. “ZKN allegedly provided a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Dakar worth Rp700 million to the then-Acting Regent in relation to the appointment of the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office in 2021,” Taufik said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. According to the KPK, while serving as Acting Regent of Kuansing in 2021, Suhardiman allegedly received the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Dakar valued at Rp700 million linked to the filling of the Head of PUPR Office position. Subsequently, during his tenure as Regent for the 2025–2030 period, Suhardiman allegedly received another bribe in the form of a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S worth Rp2.05 billion from Zulkarnain, this time related to the appointment of the Kuansing Regional Secretary in 2025. The KPK therefore suspects that the job auction practice had been ongoing since 2021 and continued into 2025. Earlier, on 30 June 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta, detaining 10 individuals. This marked the 14th such operation carried out by the KPK in 2026. Of the 10 people detained, five were taken to the KPK’s Red and White Building for intensive questioning. They comprised three private sector individuals, a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency administration, and Suhardiman’s wife, Suci Nitia Edwar. The KPK subsequently requested that Suhardiman and Zulkarnain surrender themselves for examination. Both were later picked up by investigators at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Banten. On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and Ardiles, the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, as suspects in the alleged job auction bribery case within the Kuantan Singingi Regency administration.
