Kuansing Regent and Secretary Surrender to KPK, Immediately Interrogated
The Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Suhardiman Amby, and Regional Secretary Zulkarnaen surrendered to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday night. Both immediately underwent intensive questioning. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that the two arrived at the KPK building at 9:17 PM WIB. They had previously disappeared when the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Kuansing, Riau Province. The sting operation is related to alleged bribery concerning the appointment of the regional secretary. In addition to securing the parties involved, the team also seized a number of pieces of evidence, including electronic evidence of financial transactions. A total of 10 people were detained in the operation, with 5 of them taken to Jakarta for further examination. The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained and is scheduled to hold a press conference on the case on Wednesday (1/7).
