Kuansing Regent and Secretary Surrender to KPK After Fleeing During Sting Operation
Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby and Regional Secretary (Sekda) Zulkarnaen surrendered to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after disappearing during a sting operation (OTT) in Kuansing, Riau. Suhardiman and Zulkarnaen arrived at the KPK building on Tuesday evening.
“As of tonight, the Regent and Regional Secretary of Kuansing have surrendered. They arrived at the Merah Putih building at around 21.17 WIB,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Tuesday (30/6/2026).
The whereabouts of Regent Suhardiman Amby and Sekda Zulkarnaen had been a mystery after they vanished while the KPK team was conducting the sting operation. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo had urged Suhardiman and Zulkarnaen to be cooperative and surrender immediately.
“We take this opportunity to urge the Regent and Sekda of Kuansing to cooperate by surrendering to the KPK so that the ongoing legal process can be carried out effectively,” he explained.
The sting operation in Kuansing was related to alleged bribery concerning the appointment of the Regional Secretary. The KPK team also secured a number of pieces of evidence related to the case.
“In addition to securing the parties involved, the team also secured several items of evidence in this sting operation, namely electronic evidence in the form of financial transaction records,” Budi explained.
A total of 10 people were detained by the KPK in the operation. Five of them were subsequently taken to Jakarta for further examination at the KPK building.
The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of the detained individuals. The KPK is scheduled to hold a press conference on the case on Wednesday (1/7).
