The Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Riau, Suhardiman Amby, and the Regional Secretary of Kuansing, Zulkarnaen, have finally complied with a summons from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after being sought by investigators following a sting operation. Both arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, 30 June 2026, to undergo legal proceedings related to the case being handled by the anti-graft agency. The arrival of Suhardiman and Zulkarnaen was confirmed by Suhardiman’s legal counsel, Rizki Poliang, who accompanied his client to the KPK building. “That’s right, I am currently with the Regent, we have just arrived at the KPK on the second floor. I happened to be escorting and accompanying him as his legal counsel,” Rizki Poliang said when confirmed. Rizki revealed that Suhardiman Amby travelled to Jakarta together with the Regional Secretary of Kuansing, Zulkarnaen. After landing in Jakarta, both immediately headed to the KPK building. However, Rizki stressed that he was only acting as legal counsel for Suhardiman Amby. “The Regional Secretary is also here, but I am only accompanying the Regent,” he stated. Previously, the KPK had urged Suhardiman Amby and Zulkarnaen to surrender immediately after they could not be located during the sting operation. Investigators stated that the testimonies of the Regent and Regional Secretary of Kuansing were needed to uncover the alleged bribery case being handled. The KPK had even requested that both individuals be cooperative so that the legal process could proceed effectively. The sting operation conducted by the KPK in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta resulted in the arrest of 10 people. From that number, several parties were taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih building for intensive examination. The case under investigation is suspected to be related to bribery in the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, including alleged bribery in the appointment of the Regional Secretary position. During the sting operation, one of the parties also detained by investigators was Suci, the wife of Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby. However, the KPK has yet to reveal in detail the legal status of all detained parties or the complete construction of the case being investigated.
