Kuansing Regent and Secretary Surrender to KPK
Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby and Regional Secretary Zulkarnaen surrendered to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday (30/6) evening. Based on CNNIndonesia.com’s observation at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, Suhardiman and Zulkarnaen were brought by investigators to the anti-corruption agency’s office by car. They entered the building through the back door. “As of tonight, the Regent and Regional Secretary of Kuansing have surrendered. They arrived at the Merah Putih building at around 9.17 p.m. Western Indonesian Time,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo via written message on Tuesday evening. Budi explained that they were immediately undergoing examination as of that night. Previously, the KPK had arrested a total of ten people in a sting operation in Kuansing Regency and Jakarta. Nine people were arrested in Kuansing Regency, while one was arrested in Jakarta. After undergoing initial examination, the investigative team decided to bring five people to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building. They consisted of three individuals from the private sector, a civil servant in the Kuansing Regency, and a family member of a state official in Kuansing Regency. “The case is suspected to be related to alleged bribery for a position in the Kuansing Regency,” Budi stated. The KPK also seized electronic evidence in the form of financial transaction records and a car from the covert operation.
