Kuansing Regent and Secretary Surrender, Escorted by KPK from Soetta Airport

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced that Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby and Kuansing Regency Regional Secretary Zulkarnain surrendered themselves and were brought by the anti-corruption agency to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten. “In the process, the Regent and Regional Secretary were brought from Soetta Airport to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday evening. According to Budi, both arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building at around 9:17 p.m. Western Indonesian Time and immediately underwent intensive questioning. “Currently, both are immediately undergoing intensive questioning,” he said. Of the 10 people detained, five were taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for intensive questioning. They consist of three private parties, a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and Suhardiman’s wife, Suci Nitia Edward. The KPK had previously requested that Suhardiman and Zulkarnain surrender for questioning. Both are suspected of being involved in an alleged bribery case concerning the buying and selling of the regional secretary position. In handling this case, the KPK also seized a car suspected of being used as an instrument of the bribe.
