Kuansing Regent and Secretary Officially Detained by KPK

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Suhardiman Amby, along with the Regional Secretary of Kuansing Regency, Zulkarnain, have officially become detainees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after appearing before the public wearing orange vests.

Suhardiman was seen smiling briefly before addressing the journalists waiting for him. “Please provide your support and prayers,” Suhardiman said at the KPK Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Following that statement, neither Suhardiman nor Zulkarnain responded extensively to questions from journalists. Based on observations by ANTARA reporters on the scene, there is one other suspect besides Suhardiman and Zulkarnain, though their identity has not yet been announced by the KPK.

Previously, on Tuesday (30/6), the KPK confirmed that it had conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Kuansing and Jakarta, securing 10 individuals. This operation marks the 14th sting operation conducted by the KPK throughout 2026.

Of the 10 individuals detained, five were taken to the KPK Merah Putih Building for intensive interrogation. These individuals include three private sector representatives, a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and Suhardiman’s wife, Suci Nitia Edward.

The KPK had previously requested that Suhardiman and Zulkarnain surrender themselves for questioning. Both are allegedly linked to a case involving suspected bribery in the sale and purchase of the regional secretary position. In handling the case, the KPK also seized a vehicle suspected of being used as an instrument for the bribe.
