Kuansing Regent and Secretary Detained by KPK Over Job Auction Bribery
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby and Regional Secretary Zulkarnain as suspects in a case of alleged bribery involving the trade of official positions. The anti-graft body also named Ardiles, the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, as a suspect. Based on monitoring at the KPK’s Red and White Building, the suspects were seen wearing the orange vests typical of KPK detainees with their hands cuffed. They are set to be transferred to the KPK Detention Centre. Under the Criminal Procedure Code, the suspects will be detained for an initial period of 20 days. The KPK will provide a complete explanation of the case’s construction and the chronology of the sting operation later this afternoon. Previously, Suhardiman and Zulkarnain surrendered themselves to the KPK on Tuesday evening after the anti-graft agency issued an ultimatum. They were awaited by KPK investigators at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. In addition to the two officials, the KPK also arrested ten other individuals during the silent operation. Nine people were arrested in Kuansing Regency, while one other was arrested in Jakarta. Following initial examinations, investigators decided to bring five people to the KPK’s Red and White Building. During the sting operation, the KPK team secured evidence of financial transactions and a car suspected to be an instrument of the bribe.
