Kuansing Deputy Regent Becomes Acting Regent After Suhardiman Amby Caught in KPK Sting Operation
The Deputy Regent of Kuantan Singingi, Riau Province, Mukhlisin, has received a decree appointing him as Acting Regent following the naming of Suhardiman Amby as a suspect in a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Mukhlisin received the decree from the Acting Governor of Riau, SF Hariyanto, which was based on a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs number 100.2.7/5000/SJ. He stated that the wheels of government are currently running normally, both in terms of services and activities.
“Alhamdulillah, the government continues to run as it should. Likewise, all planned agendas, including the ongoing MTQ implementation, are proceeding,” Mukhlisin said after receiving the decree at the Riau Governor’s Office in Pekanbaru on Thursday. The Ministry of Home Affairs’ letter stated that the decree was to be issued in connection with the arrest and detention of Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby and Zulkarnaen as the Regional Secretary. Mukhlisin was then asked to carry out his duties to ensure the continuity of government and public services.
In addition, he was also asked to immediately appoint a Daily Acting Regional Secretary until further policy decisions are made. Mukhlisin revealed that the Riau Provincial Government has provided direction and prepared a Daily Acting Regional Secretary who will serve for the next 20 days. “The Governor has given direction. The Acting Regional Secretary has also been prepared and will serve for the next 20 days so that the wheels of government continue to run,” he said.
Regarding the KPK sting operation, Mukhlisin expressed his concern over the legal process being faced by the Kuansing Regent, Suhardiman Amby, and the Kuansing Regional Secretary. He hopes both will be given fortitude in facing the matter. “We are concerned about this incident. I hope the regent and regional secretary are given strength in undergoing the entire ongoing legal process,” he stated.
