KTNA Urges Authorities to Investigate Alleged Thuggery Behind Agrinas Palma Protest
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Leading Farmers and Fishermen Group (KTNA) has called on law enforcement agencies to investigate allegations regarding the use of thugs during a demonstration at the Head Office of PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero), Riau, on Wednesday (2/9).
“We request that law enforcement agencies conduct a thorough investigation and take firm action against anyone proven to be involved,” said KTNA Chairman Abdul Gani in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
He expressed concern over the actions of certain individuals who are allegedly using the name and interests of the Riau people to facilitate personal or specific group agendas.
“Anyone is permitted to hold a protest or demonstration, but it is concerning when it is hijacked, or carried out by individuals who are being paid. Furthermore, these individuals are clearly linked to thuggery acting in the name of the Riau people,” Gani stated.
Consequently, he lamented that the name and interests of the community are suspected of being used by certain parties for personal or group gain.
Gani stated that KTNA represents the farming community that manages land legally on the ground. Therefore, he strongly rejects manipulative actions that use the people of Riau as a shield or merely as a political commodity.
“Stop using the name of the Riau people for the interests of a few individuals. We do not accept the name of the community being sold, exploited, or used as a shield for the interests of certain parties,” said Gani.
Furthermore, KTNA expressed support for the Director of Compliance and Sustainability at Agrinas Palma Nusantara, who is regarded as being consistent in maintaining integrity, defending the interests of the people, and seeking fair solutions in the field.
KTNA also supports the steps of President Prabowo Subianto in prioritising the welfare of farming groups, while simultaneously eradicating practices of thuggery and the corruption mafia involved in illegal land occupation across the country.
“Agrinas must be protected to ensure it remains aligned with the interests of the state and the community. We urge the President to firmly eradicate thuggery and individuals involved in corruption regarding illegal land occupation that harms this nation,” Gani added.
Agrinas Palma Nusantara is a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) tasked by the government to manage palm oil plantations resulting from the regularisation of forest areas.
According to the first-half financial reports of 2026, Agrinas Palma Nusantara recorded a net profit of Rp890 billion, representing a 150 per cent year-on-year growth.
